Disaster Response

In 2007, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded AMR with an exclusive contract to provide ground and air ambulance service along with para-transit service to supplement federal and military responses to disasters, acts of terrorism and other public health emergencies. This national contract is the first of its kind and as of October 1, 2009 covers the 48 contiguous United States which are divided into 4 FEMA zones.

Members of the Disaster Response Team (DRT) assist communities in times of need, using their dynamic skills and compassionate spirit to have a positive impact on the lives of others.

As the nation's leading medical transportation company, AMR must be ready to respond to emergency events wherever they might occur across the United States. This means having a team of professionals prepared now and in the future to deploy immediately to wherever local governments and communities need us, or when we are called upon at a national level.

Air Ambulance Specialists Inc. is an indirect air carrier which arranges and coordinates air ambulance services. All flights are operated by direct air carriers holding certificates issued under 14 C.F.R. Part 121 or 135.
